WARNINGS
Consult a Healthcare Professional: Always use this device under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Do not self-diagnose or change medication based solely on readings from this device.
Proper Cuff Size is Critical: Using the wrong cuff size can lead to inaccurate readings.
Accuracy: Aneroid devices can lose accuracy over time due to jarring or drops. Periodic calibration checks (e.g., annually) are recommended.
For External Use Only.
KFEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
Do not modify the device.
Inspect before use: Do not use if the cuff, tubing, or manometer are visibly damaged.
Discomfort: If discomfort or pain occurs during inflation, immediately deflate the cuff.
Interpretation of Readings: High or low readings should be discussed with a doctor.
DIRECTIONS
Preparation:
Ensure the person is relaxed, seated comfortably with their arm supported at heart level.
No talking, caffeine, or exercise for at least 30 minutes prior.
Bare arm preferred; if sleeves are rolled up, ensure they are not constricting.
Application:
Select the correct cuff size for the arm circumference.
Wrap the cuff smoothly and snugly around the upper arm, with the artery indicator (if present) over the brachial artery. The lower edge of the cuff should be about 1 inch (2-3 cm) above the elbow crease.
Measurement:
Locate the pulse with a stethoscope (if using one) over the brachial artery.
Inflate the cuff by squeezing the rubber bulb until the pressure exceeds the expected systolic pressure by about 20-30 mmHg (or until no pulse sounds are heard).
Slowly release the air valve (typically 2-3 mmHg per second) while listening with the stethoscope.
Systolic Pressure: Note the reading on the manometer when the first distinct tapping sound (Korotkoff sound) is heard.
Diastolic Pressure: Note the reading when the sounds completely disappear.
Deflate the cuff completely.
Repetition: Wait a few minutes before taking another reading.
Record Keeping: Advise to record readings.
