DIRECTIONS
Preparation:
Wash hands thoroughly.
Prime the insulin pen as directed by the pen manufacturer's instructions.
Attachment:
Peel off the paper tab from the outer needle cap.
Push the needle straight onto the pen and twist until secure.
Remove the outer cap and save it.
Remove the inner safety cap.
Injection:
Refer to your insulin pen's instructions for setting the dose.
Cleanse the injection site as directed by your healthcare professional.
Pinch up the skin (if advised by your healthcare professional for the specific needle length).
Insert the needle straight into the skin (often, with short needles, no skin pinch is required, but follow medical advice).
Inject the insulin by pushing the pen's button fully.
Hold the needle in place for a few seconds (as recommended by your doctor or pen instructions) to ensure full dose delivery.
Disposal:
Carefully replace the outer needle cap (do not recap the inner needle).
Unscrew the capped needle from the pen.
Dispose of the used needle immediately in an FDA-cleared sharps disposal container. Do not dispose of loose needles in household trash.
